Who I am

My name is Brigitte Schnakenbourg, I'm from Northern France and I am living in Hamburg. I am the founder and owner of SIMPARGA – The Affordable Art Gallery. My love for art began at the age of twelve. Florence Fabre, an artist and the sister of my best friend Marie, gave me my very first painting. It still hangs in my home today – and no, it's not for sale. Never. I was fascinated by Florence's creativity and loved her work.

The SIMPARGA's story

In 2006, I first had the idea of selling her paintings online. But life intervened, and I initially pursued a different career path. Nevertheless, that moment marked the beginning of my interest in art – and the start of my own collection. Some paintings I simply find beautiful. Others, however, have a deeper meaning for me, like "Trois copines se reposent" by Chris van Dijk – because it reminds me of the two sisters of my heart.

In 2016, I first founded SIMPARGA – the name stands for SIMPle ARt GAllery. I wanted to make buying art easy and accessible for everyone. But this time, too, life intervened, and I put the project on hold.

In 2024, I decided to revive SIMPARGA. By then, my collection had grown significantly larger and more diverse. I had matured and learned a lot in the corporate world – experiences that I can now bring to bear here. This time, the focus is particularly on affordable prices. The majority of the paintings costs less than €500 – making art affordable for many people: for themselves or as a special gift.

All works available here come from my private collection, which is constantly evolving. And because I love being close to water – and especially the ocean – the theme of the sea and beach plays a special role in this gallery.

Enjoy your visit at SIMPARGA. I am honored to be part of your art journey and thrilled to bring affordable art to homes and hearts everywhere.
